Live-Streaming Thoughts
What if your last thought had posted directly to your Facebook page or your
Twitter feed or pinned on Pinterest or emailed your contact list?
What
if that electronic device on your wrist or around your neck flashed your
thoughts across a ticketing neon sign above your head for everyone to read?
This
concept began as a comment from a friend in a class. And my brain will not let
go of that thought which is ironic, since thoughts are the crux of the matter.
I
confess that if my thoughts appeared live
like scrolling signs on Times Square, I'd be hauled away in a straight jacket
with a comment bubble hovering above my head filled with symbols
(##&&$$$&@!!!!). You get the
idea.
What
about you?
How'd you like to share ALL of your thoughts with the world?
Not me. Not for a single minute.
You
see, there are some unpleasant thoughts which abound inside brains like….
- Judgmental assumptions on others appearances, actions or decisions
- Defensive tirades against others whether you've been accused or not
- Complete arguments in your head including the opposing side (of course, your logic and point of view is the winning one)
- Envious rumblings on what others have or maybe what they don't have
- How dare them accusations—to that crazy driver or that entitled elitist or that close-minded relative
- The infamous why-me-pity-party celebrated with the why can't I catch a break attitude
I'm
sure there are many more we'd prefer to safely hide deep within our brains
never to see the light of day like a toxic garbage dump buried inside our
ganglia. But is that really good for us? You know, to have such unhealthy internal
brain conversations, day in and day out.
After
reading the book, Switch on Your Brain by Dr. Caroline Leaf, I'm even more aware of
the importance of thoughts on my life and health.
Since
my word for the year is REVITALIZE, I guess it's high time to weed out those dark thinking patterns
and develop a strategy to dump all the toxic waste, rewire the circuits with a
positive mindset, and grow new neurons and pathways that I will gladly share
with the light of day.
Who
knows maybe one day technology will advance to the point that our thoughts are
instantly public?
Paul offers great advice on what to think
about in Philippians 4:8 (ESV).
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything
worthy of praise, think about these things."
How are your thoughts? Have you battled a negative thought pattern and
won? Please share your insight…and thoughts.

Negative thoughts can really change our whole life. I try to turn negative thoughts into positive thoughts. Praying and speaking with God about my feelings is the best thing to do for me. :-) Thank you for this great post today.
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome, Melissa. I agree on sharing feelings with God. He's always big and good enough to handle them.
