The 911 Operator
Person
in need: Help me! Please. My time is running out.
911
Operator: I've already dispatched help to your location. Hang in there and
trust me.
Person
in need: I don't see any help. Are you sure it's coming?
911
Operator: Yes. Rescue was in place before you called. Open your eyes and grab a
hold of the rescuer. He is there trying to connect with you. Trust him and
don't let go.
Person
in need: No, that won't work. He's not enough to rescue me. There must be
another option. Oh no, my time's up…
Can
you imagine being the 911 operator who takes a desperate call from someone in peril?
Your job is to provide rescue advice and to be a calming influence. The rescuer
had arrived but the person in need can't find him, or waits to long to reach
for help, or chooses to wait for another option. And then time runs out. All is
lost.
Why
didn't he / she simply listen and heed your advice? How devastated would you
be?
Now
read the above conversation again, but this time God is the 911 operator and
you are the person in need.
You
see…
- God's always been on duty and always will be.
- He knew before time began that you would need help.
- So He sent the Rescuer two thousand years ago.
- He even provides the rescue instruction book to light the path to the Rescuer.
Remember
He hears every word you say, knows every thought you think, and sees every
action you make. And He still loves you!
Enough
to sacrifice His one and only Son to rescue you from eternal calamity.
The
decision is yours. Choose wisely. Time is running out.
"Though
you have not seen Him, you love him; and even though you do not see Him now,
you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for
you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls." 1
Peter 1:8-9.
