Three Times Hope & Restoration

Could you use a fresh dose of hope?

The recent news and turmoil in our world can leave us feeling frustrated and defeated.

I found hope and insight from an unlikely place.

The Book of Revelation.

But first a reminder about Jesus and the number three.

At the last supper, Peter claimed he'd never deny Jesus and then just a few short hours later, he did just that (Luke 22:54-62). And exactly as Jesus said, "I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me."

Peter then went outside and wept bitterly.
But Jesus didn't just leave him broken hearted.

In John 21:15-19, Jesus ask Peter three times, "Do you truly love me?" And Peter responds in the affirmative each time.

Three denials. Three restorations.

Jesus extends love, compassion, forgiveness, and hope to Peter after a tumultuous and devastating time in his life.

Revelation 22 offers another set of three, hand-delivered by Christ to every believer. It's as if Jesus is insisting we get the message, and to make sure, He delivers it three times.

In verses, 7, 12 and 20, Jesus tells us, "I am coming soon!"

Just like He restored Peter, He leaves hope and restoration for us in the last chapter.

Why? Because fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, mass shootings, and  floods are hard on our souls like trying to digest a box of nails.

So He buried a hopeful message for each of us. And three times to makes sure we didn't miss it.

He is coming soon. He is coming soon. He is coming soon.

Knowing that He is returning and taking us to the New Jerusalem, gives me fresh hope and peace.

What about you? What gives you hope in these tough days? Please share.
